Appearance and Property
Students were consulted about the school uniform and a flexible but smart option was chosen. This enables students to reflect a sense of belonging to the school community and providing safe, appropriate dress in a working environment.
Key Stage 3 students have amber stripes on the neck of their sweatshirt or cardigan. From September 2012 year 7 will have one stripe and year 8 will have two stripes.
Students wearing headscarves must ensure that they are plain black with no beading, sequins, lace, trim or logos. Headscarves are to be removed for PE lessons.
All students are provided with a locker for their personal possessions and therefore only small black shoulder bags can be carried around school and into lessons. Similarly outdoor coats should be removed and placed into lockers before lessons.
The only jewellery allowed is a watch and one pair of ear studs. Students with additional piercings will be required to remove their body jewellery whilst in school. Should students choose to wear other jewellery it will be removed and kept safe pending collection outside school hours.
Students should not bring valuables or large sums of money into school and each student is responsible for their own property. Parents may wish to consider insuring possessions through their household policy.
Mobile telephones should not be used in school. We accept that a student may wish to carry her phone in her bag but it should be switched off. If a student breaks this rule and uses her phone on school premises it will be confiscated. The same rule applies to ipods and mp3 players. Laser pens are banned in school on safety grounds.
