Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Disability
As well as meeting the needs of those children with a statement of SEN we are also committed to meeting the needs of other children with SEN within the resources that are available to us. The Governors make sure the special needs of students are known to all, ensure teachers are aware of the importance of identifying and providing for those registered students who have SEN, and consult the local authority and the governing bodies of other schools in the area as necessary for co-ordinating provision for pupils with SEN. Admission arrangements for students with statements of Special Education Needs are outlined in the admission policy.
Batley Girls’ High School is committed to promoting and ensuring equality for all. The Academy Trust Board recognises its responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) not to discriminate against students with disabilities because of a reason relating to their disability. The requirements apply to all and attempts are made to assist access to the school by students with disabilities. All new buildings are fully compliant with latest access requirements but the majority of the building is multilevel and can only be accessed by steps.
