Batley Girls’ High School is, yet again, celebrating a continuing upward trend, building year-on-year, with excellent GCSE results.
Following the exceptional A Level outcomes last week, these superb GCSE results are a credit to the students, families and staff.
Co-Heads David Cooper and Julie Haigh said:“We are delighted with results this year. Students have risen to the challenge and exceeded all expectations, particularly in relation to their Key Stage 2 starting points.”
“We are particularly proud of the Maths and English ‘Standard Basics’ score of 76.3 % (scoring grade 4-9 in both Maths and English), and the ‘Strong Basics’ score of 57% (scoring grade 5-9 in both Maths and English) . 100% of students studying Physics, Biology, and Chemistry scored 4-9 grades, with an average grade of 7 (equivalent of grade A). These scores are a further improvement on our best results ever in 2018.“
“E-Baccalaureate and Humanities subjects scored particularly well, most notably: French (70% 9-4); Urdu (86.6% A*-C); History (66.1% 9-4); and RE (76.6% 9-4).”
“Our students continue to excel in Fine Art (81.8% 9-4); Photography (83.3 9-4); Textiles (84.6 9-4) BTEC Art and Design (35.7% Distinction/Distinction*, equivalent to A/A*+).”
“The progress scores of students from less advantaged backgrounds is exceptional.”
“This continued success is a tribute to the long term commitment and hard work of all our staff, students, families, Members, Trustees and Governors.”
