Our remote learning plan has been made with our students and their families in mind. We believe that this strategy will work best for the students at our school.
Our return to school from Monday 8 March will be a staggered approach to allow for initial mass testing. In the interim, students will be continuing with their remote learning, if at home, or in class lessons as they return to the building. On their return to school students will follow their original timetable.
Teaching colleagues will deliver a blended approach to learning so that all students, whether at home or in school are catered for. If students are at home, parents should refer to the remote learning guide for further information. To view please click on the PDF below.
Students will be expected to be learning for 5 hours a day, following their timetable if they are at home. We will be monitoring the engagement of your daughter in their learning during this period, and we are ever hopeful that they return to school as soon as possible.
All students will follow the same school day timings and should follow their normal school timetable:
Period 1: 08:30 – 09:20 (Monday-Friday)
Period 2: 09:20 – 10:10 (Monday-Friday)
Break: 10:10 – 10:30
Period 3: 10:30 – 11:20 (Monday-Friday)
Period 4: 11:20 – 12:10 (Monday-Friday)
Lunch and reflection time: 12:10 -13:05
Period 5: 13:05 – 13:55 (Monday-Friday)
Period 6: 13:55 – 14:45 (Monday-Thursday)
Please read the details below carefully to ensure that your child can access this learning. Any problems please email the relevant teacher or pastoral team immediately.
These are accessed via Google Meet at the given lesson time.
If a live lesson is not running students will be set work via staff, who will email students to confirm the work set and any arrangements for submitting completed work.
Each class has its own Google Classroom where work can be set and assessed on most devices. If your daughter is not sure what to do she can email her teacher.
There are videos on the website for parents to use to support their daughter in accessing the on-line learning. These have already been shared with your child too.
What we expect from your child
It is important that your child engages with home learning and they stick to their timetable. If they aren’t engaging with the learning, we’ll provide additional support through monitoring engagement, phone calls home and intervention.
What you can do to help

Our top tips:
- Try to encourage your daughter to be ready and dressed for the start of the school day, and to keep to her timetable
- Distinguish between weekdays and weekends, and make it clear when the school day is over, to separate home and school life
- Plan breaks and exercise into the day to help keep your daughter active
- Please keep in touch with us and do let us know if you’re having any difficulties with remote learning, or if you have any questions. You can contact your class teacher or pastoral manager and they will help or pass you on to a person who can.
1. What parents can expect immediately after their child is sent home.
If your daughter does not have access to the appropriate ICT equipment to continue with education remotely, they will be provided with a laptop from school. Information is already available on the school website that offers guidance to parents about remote learning and they will be reminded of this. A letter is also available to inform parents of the self-isolation process, the procedure and the date of return. If in any doubt contact your daughter's pastoral team.
2. How long will the work you set take students to complete?
The work will be set for students via Google Classroom and each piece will take the duration of a 50-minute lesson. Students can access their lessons remotely via Google Meets to be involved in blended learning with their peers and class teachers. Work will be provided for the duration of the student's time away from school. This should be approximately 5 hours a day.
3. How we will provide feedback?
Feedback will be provided in different ways in different subjects. It may take the form of emails, verbal or written comments on work that has been digitally submitted, or via Google Meets during lesson time.
4. Additional support for SEND and self-isolating students
If your daughter is ill and isolating, they will not be expected to attend lessons or complete work unless they are feeling well enough to do so. If your daughter is well and isolating, support is available via pastoral communication, Meets with subject teachers during lesson time, and also Meets with form tutors during Reflection time. Email communication is also likely to occur. This may vary within individual cases depending on student needs. For SEND students, they have at least weekly Meets with a member of the SEND team who can assist with their work and provide guidance. SEND students have been allocated a 'key worker' from the SEND team who they are in regular contact with for consistency and these staff are also in contact with parents of the SEND students on a regular basis too.
