Having worked in the Data department at BGHS for over 5 years, Michelle has embraced the vast and tumultuous changes that Education has gone through in recent times, such as the return to linear exams and new specifications and have adapted the way we approach our data handling, to meet these new ways. It is this skillset and experience that makes Michelle’s contribution to the governing body invaluable. Michelle is particularly interested in the use of data to both identify trends that can initiate timely intervention or help pinpoint best practices that can be shared throughout the school and wider Trust. Michelle enjoys the various opportunities the role as staff governor brings, in particular the award ceremonies and events!

Janice has worked at BGHS for over 10 years and joined the board of governors in 2018 as she wanted to work with people who have a common goal in driving an already outstanding school forward. Having been in the science industry since she was 16, Janice’s knowledge and skillset is invaluable to board of governors. Janice has made an outstanding contribution to Science Education both in her role as Science Technician within a secondary setting and with outreach work with our primary partners. Janice is passionately committed to developing STEM careers for our young women. In her spare time, Janice enjoys baking and cake decorating and has recently bought a Ukulele!

Areas of responsibility: Humanities, Sixth Form

Carole became one of our Parent Governors and joined the board in 2016, after attending a number of Batley Girls’ Parent Forum meetings which gave her a better understanding of the running and forward planning required at a secondary school. As a parent governor, Carole offered a different perspective and enjoyed the interaction with staff, students and parents that the role offers. After her daughter left the sixth form here she was re-elected as co-opted Governor and remains on the board today. Carole is clearly passionate about the school, its students and the local community and works hard to support the local food banks raising funds within the school.
