A message from our C+K Careers Adviser

Julie Tipper

No matter what year your daughter is in, there is always something she can be thinking about to inform her future options.

Year 11

The main focus in Year 11 is the transition of all learners from Batley Girls’ High School to their preferred choice of either sixth form, college or apprenticeship. They will all be offered a careers meeting to talk through their plans and ideas  with a qualified adviser who is impartial and independent.

There is an open door policy in the careers room so they are welcome to come and ask questions and to book appointments with me directly.

Year 10

Careers meetings with Year 10 begin in the Summer Term.

I also conduct group sessions and /or assemblies , talking them through their options post 16.

Additionally, they can access their Unifrog account for careers information, quizzes and subject ideas to help them with their decision-making. They can also start to log activities that they have done such as attending virtual careers fairs, webinars etc.

Years 7, 8 and 9

This is the time for learners to start thinking about what they are good at and what they enjoy and then how that can link to jobs and careers. They can access their Unifrog account for careers information, quizzes and subject ideas to help them with their decision making. They can also start to log activities that they have done such as attending any virtual careers events.

Year 9

In Year 9 we help learners to start making decisions about their future with:

  • Individual careers meetings by request to assist with GCSE choices

SEND

I attend SEND transition reviews in Years 8, 11 and 12 and 13 where appropriate. For more information visit MyDirections.
