Year 7
As soon as our students join Batley Girls’ in Year 7, we encourage them to start thinking about their future careers and the steps needed to follow the correct route. Whilst some students already have a definite career dream, others need time to explore the options that are ahead of them. At Batley Girls’ we start the careers provision with:
- An introduction to careers and information resources always available in the Careers Hub
- STEAM Careers Events
- Careers assemblies
Year 8
In Year 8 we continue our work with students about their future careers.
- STEAM Careers Events
- Careers assemblies
Year 9
In Year 9 we help students to start making decisions about their future with:
- Individual interviews by request to assist with GCSE choices
- Discussion about the impact of GSCE options on future career and higher education choices
- Annual whole school Careers and Higher Education Fair
- An introduction to the Job Explorer Data Base (JED) This programme explores specific jobs and careers in the broader context of job families. Students are shown how to use the JED software programme.
