Key Information about September 2021

Transition 2021/22

Parents of prospective Year 7 students, please view the below video for the ‘Virtual Parents Transition Meeting’ which will give you more information about the journey your daughter will embark on in September here with us.

Transition Day 2021 - Update:

Due to the latest guidance, the Year 6 Transition Day will now be virtual. Please read the letter below for full details.

We are delighted that you have chosen to join Batley Girls’ High School.

We know that things have been very different for us all during this last year, but we wanted to assure you that we are thinking of you and are really excited about all the things we have planned when you join us. We also will keep you informed in terms of how we will manage the transition process prior to September as lockdown eases. As always, we will be guided by the latest Government advice and we are hopeful that this will mean that your daughter will be able to visit our school prior to September on July 6, the allocated transition date across Kirklees.

There is also a really important form that you will need to complete by Friday 21 May 2021. The form will be called ‘Transition Proforma for Families 2021/22 Academic Year’ and you will find the details on the letter that was sent home to you.

We will be writing to you regularly now and will send out some information over the next few weeks. We have also been in touch with your current schools and are hopeful to visit you there, either in person or virtually. We understand that starting secondary school can be very exciting yet, a little daunting experience for many students. Our staff understand this and work closely with the primary schools to try to make students transition as easy as possible.

We are also hosting a summer school from Tuesday 31 August to Friday 3 September. We would be delighted if your daughter would like to join us so we can support her transition. The places are limited and we would work on a first come first served basis. The main focus of the sessions will be the development of numeracy and literacy skills through fun and engaging activities. We will also be promoting the love of reading and creative activities. If you would be interested in more information or taking up a place on these four days, as we would like your daughter to attend all the sessions, please contact us at: summerschool@batleygirls.co.uk and direct your response to Jamila Aswat.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us at: transition@batleygirls.co.uk

In the meantime, take care and our sincere best wishes to you all,

The Transition Team at Batley Girls’ High School
