The Enrichment Programme is designed to elevate learners’ educational experience by embedding meaningful, whole-person development opportunities directly into the curriculum through a dedicated timetabled lesson. At its core, the programme is structured to expand personal development across three key areas: respect for self, respect for the community, and respect for the environment.
These cultural enrichment sessions empower learners to develop valuable knowledge, practical skills, and personal confidence—enhancing both their individual profile and their readiness for future success.
Learners can choose from a diverse and dynamic range of opportunities, many of which may not be accessible elsewhere. From collaborating with local businesses to refine public speaking skills, to exploring British Sign Language (BSL), participating in book clubs, or developing entrepreneurial expertise, the programme offers something for every interest. Depending on their chosen pathway, learners may also work towards prestigious qualifications such as the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), highly regarded by universities and employers alike. In addition, learners are encouraged to engage with their communities through volunteering and by leading or contributing to charitable initiatives.
The programme runs as a weekly timetabled session, delivered in 6–8 week blocks from September through to Easter in both Year 12 and Year 13. Within this structure, Year 12 learners also dedicate a term to focusing on modules within the Progression Module Programme, supporting them in developing the skills, insight, and direction needed for their next steps. Enrichment provides a wide range of lasting benefits, equipping learners with the skills, experiences, and confidence needed to stand out in competitive pathways such as employment, apprenticeships, and higher education. We take great pride in continually shaping the programme to reflect the evolving interests and aspirations of our learners.
Work experience is a key pillar of the programme. The dedicated Enrichment time slot ensures learners can gain valuable industry experience without compromising their A Level or Applied studies, enabling them to build both academic and professional readiness simultaneously.
